Fukuroi-shuku

Fukuroi-shuku, established in 1616, was a post town with 3 honjin (main inn) and 50 inns. It was bustling with daimyos visiting for their alternate attendance to Edo, merchants, and visitors to Akiba.
Between Naguri, Kaminukina and Kutsube, Araya, in Fukuroi, the pine trees and earthworks of the Tokaido are well preserved. In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the Tokaido, a promenade was constructed on the north side of the earthen mound and pine trees for a length of about 1.5 km. Please try walking once.

Domannaka Chaya

In order to promote Fukuroi-shuku in the middle of the 53 stages of the Tokaido, this teahouse was built with the motif of the “53 Stages of the Tokaido,” the painting by the first Hiroshige. Located at the eastern entrance of Fukuroi-shuku, it is popular as a place for locals to relax and for travelers visiting Fukuroi to take a break.
At Domannaka Chaya, the locals serve hot water and other teas.
