Nissaka-shuku

Nissaka-shuku is the 25th inn counting from Shinagawa-shuku, the 53 stages of the Tokaido. According to records from 1843, there were 168 houses, including 1 honjin (main inn), 1 wakihonjin (extra inn), and 33 inns. Among the 22 inns in Shizuoka Prefecture, in terms of both size and population, it was a small inn along with Yui and Mariko. However, it was an important inn ahead of Nissaka Pass, one of the three most difficult places on the Tokaido. It is said that houses in Nissaka-shuku sold bracken-starch dumplings, and many sold medicines for foot pain.

Sayo no Nakayama Koizumiya

Koizumiya manufactures and sells Sayo no Nakayama specialty, "Childcare candy" and is used as a drive-in and rest area. Next to the store, there is a stairway leading to the cobblestone that became the stage of Sayo no Nakayama's legend of "Night Crying Stone." Take a break during your trip at Koizumiya. We look forward to welcoming you. Please feel free to drop by.
