Kanaya-shuku

On the right bank of the Oi River, on the way from Kanaya-shuku to Nissaka-shuku, Kanaya Slope and Kikugawa Slope are paved with stones to keep travelers safe. The stone pavement of Kanaya Slope was restored by the townspeople's one-stone movement in the old Kanaya Town era.
In the middle of Kanaya Slope, there is the "Suberazu Jizoson (stone image of the guardian deity of children that won’t let you fail.” Many students and their guardians visit to pray for success. A ceremony to pray for success is held in January every year.
On the Kanaya side, steam locomotives (Oi River Railway), which have a high historical value in modern times, also operate regularly. The nostalgic scenery of the old days attracts many people.
