Fujieda-shuku

Fujieda-shuku, the 22nd post town station on the Tokaido, has a total length of about 2 km and a population of about 4,400, making it one of the largest post town stations in the prefecture. This place, which connects the Akaishi Mountains, the Shida Plain, and the Pacific Ocean, has long been a prosperous market, with various products such as tea and shiitake mushrooms from the mountains, rice from the plains, and seafood from the sea. The "Historic Site Tanaka Castle Mansion” is located around this area, which Tokugawa Ieyasu often visited for falconry. In the past, commercial stores and stores for samurais, such as swordsmith stores stood here in a row. It was a post town station with a unique atmosphere as though it was town surrounding a samurai castle.
